The concept of generational trauma and breaking generational curses is not just a metaphor; it’s an inherited struggle that manifests in every part of our lives—emotional, financial, spiritual, and psychological. Understanding the complexities of the human mind, particularly its programmable nature, provides a path toward breaking these cycles. By examining the three levels of the mind—the conscious, subconscious, and superconscious—we begin to see how the beliefs and patterns that govern our lives can be reprogrammed to create empowerment and liberation.

These mental faculties don’t just determine our individual thoughts and actions; they also influence the frequency at which we operate. When we become aware of these different levels of consciousness, we can actively shift our frequency to one that supports healing, growth, and the dismantling of systemic oppression, both internally and externally.

The Conscious Mind: The Programmer of Reality

The conscious mind is what we typically think of when we refer to "thinking" or being aware of something. This is the mind that we use in our everyday experiences—making decisions, analyzing situations, and interacting with the world around us. The conscious mind is the programmer, meaning that it has the power to select and focus on specific thoughts, ideas, and perceptions.

While the conscious mind is limited in terms of storage capacity compared to the subconscious, it is the gateway to what gets embedded in our deeper mental layers. Everything we focus on—whether it's an experience, a belief, or a societal message—is filtered by the conscious mind and then passed down to the subconscious for long-term storage. In this way, the conscious mind plays a critical role in programming the subconscious mind.

The conscious mind is like a lens, determining how we view the world. When we repeatedly focus on negative thoughts—such as "I am not enough" or "I will never succeed"—these thoughts are eventually fed into the subconscious, which then operates as if these statements are true. On the other hand, when we focus on empowering thoughts, like "I am worthy of love" or "I can achieve greatness," we program our subconscious for success and empowerment.

This is why mindfulness and intentional thinking are crucial. If we don’t control what the conscious mind is focusing on, it will be influenced by external factors—social media, news, negative environments, and systemic narratives that limit BIPOC individuals' potential. To break free from these mental shackles, it is essential to take control of what we allow into our conscious minds, because what we think about today will shape our reality tomorrow.

The Subconscious Mind: The Hard Drive of Beliefs and Patterns

While the conscious mind is responsible for moment-to-moment awareness, the subconscious mind is where long-term habits, beliefs, and emotional patterns are stored. Often compared to a hard drive, the subconscious holds all the data that has been accumulated over your life—your experiences, deeply ingrained beliefs, and habitual responses to the world around you. Unlike the conscious mind, which is analytical and critical, the subconscious mind doesn’t judge. It simply accepts whatever is fed into it and runs those programs on autopilot.

This is where the concept of programming becomes particularly important. The subconscious mind can be influenced without you even realizing it. From the day you are born, your subconscious begins recording everything—family dynamics, societal norms, cultural beliefs, and personal experiences. This is why many BIPOC individuals feel stuck in cycles of poverty, trauma, and self-doubt—because the subconscious mind has been conditioned by generational oppression, systemic racism, and trauma to accept these limitations as reality.

The subconscious mind controls about 95% of our behaviors and emotional responses, meaning that much of what we do is dictated by beliefs and programs we may not even be aware of. If your subconscious mind has been programmed to believe that you are unworthy of success, no matter how hard your conscious mind tries to achieve it, you will encounter self-sabotaging behaviors that keep you in a lower vibrational state.

However, the beauty of the subconscious mind is that it is also programmable. The same way it absorbed limiting beliefs, it can also be reprogrammed with new, empowering thoughts and behaviors. Here’s how:

  1. Repetition: The subconscious learns through repetition. Affirmations, mantras, and positive visualizations repeated consistently over time can overwrite old, limiting beliefs. If you repeatedly tell yourself, "I am deserving of success," your subconscious will begin to accept this as the new reality.

  2. Emotionally Charged Experiences: Emotion plays a critical role in how information is stored in the subconscious. This is why trauma often has such a deep and lasting impact. However, positive emotional experiences—such as practicing gratitude, forgiveness, or self-love—can also help reprogram the subconscious by associating these new beliefs with powerful, positive emotions.

  3. Hypnosis and Meditation: Both hypnosis and meditation quiet the conscious mind, allowing direct access to the subconscious. These states help bypass the conscious mind’s critical functions, enabling deep reprogramming of the beliefs that guide your daily actions.

By understanding that the subconscious is the driving force behind most of our actions, BIPOC individuals can start to actively reprogram their subconscious minds to reflect their true potential, rather than the limitations imposed by systemic forces.

The Superconscious Mind: Tapping Into Infinite Potential

The superconscious mind is the highest level of consciousness, representing pure awareness and a deep connection to the universe or a higher power. It is the realm of intuition, spiritual insight, and divine inspiration. The superconscious mind is where our greatest potential resides—our ability to transcend the limitations of both the conscious and subconscious minds.

Where the subconscious stores past programs and the conscious mind navigates the present, the superconscious connects us to infinite possibilities and higher states of consciousness. It is often described as the source of creativity, spiritual awakening, and profound understanding of life’s deeper truths. Many people experience moments of inspiration or spiritual connection through meditation, prayer, or deep reflection, tapping into this higher aspect of the mind.

Operating from the superconscious allows us to break free from conditioned beliefs altogether and move into alignment with our highest purpose. It’s a state of being where you recognize that you are not defined by your past experiences or the limitations society has placed on you. Instead, you realize that you are connected to something far greater, a universal consciousness that holds unlimited potential.

When we consciously tap into the superconscious mind, we operate on a higher frequency. This elevated state of being allows us to live in harmony with our true selves and helps us manifest positive outcomes in our lives. By regularly engaging with this aspect of the mind through spiritual practices such as mindfulness, meditation, or prayer, we can transcend the negative programs of the subconscious and create a life filled with abundance, peace, and fulfillment.

How These Minds Influence Our Frequency and State of Consciousness

Each level of the mind—conscious, subconscious, and superconscious—operates on a particular frequency, much like tuning in to different stations on a radio. When the conscious and subconscious minds are filled with fear, doubt, and negative beliefs, we operate on a lower vibrational frequency. This low frequency aligns with feelings of fear, scarcity, and hopelessness, and our reality reflects this state. Life feels like a struggle, and opportunities seem out of reach.

However, as we begin to reprogram the subconscious mind with positive beliefs and focus our conscious mind on empowering thoughts, we raise our vibrational frequency. This shift allows us to experience life from a higher state of consciousness—one marked by love, joy, peace, and abundance. As our frequency elevates, we begin to attract experiences, people, and opportunities that match this new, elevated state of being.

Finally, when we tap into the superconscious mind, we operate from the highest frequency, one that aligns with our deepest truth and spiritual essence. In this state, we transcend the limitations of our human experience and connect with the infinite potential of the universe.

Reclaiming Our Power Through Conscious Reprogramming

For BIPOC communities, understanding the mind’s programmable nature offers a powerful framework for dismantling the effects of generational trauma and systemic oppression. By consciously reprogramming our minds—starting with the conscious and subconscious, and eventually tapping into the superconscious—we can raise our vibrational frequency and elevate our state of consciousness. This process allows us to break free from the cycles of fear, self-doubt, and limitation that have been imposed upon us for centuries.

Reclaiming our power starts with awareness: recognizing the programs running in our subconscious, taking control of the thoughts we feed our conscious mind, and aligning ourselves with the infinite potential of the superconscious. As we heal and elevate our consciousness, we contribute to the collective liberation and empowerment of our communities, creating a new legacy of strength, resilience, and spiritual awakening.
